Compositions by Hans Werner Henze in Words and Music

Hans Werner Henze (1926-2012) is considered one of the most significant German-speaking opera composers of the 20th century. Many of his letters remain unpublished. The DFG project "Henze's Artistic Network," located at the Detmold/Paderborn Musicology Seminar under the direction of Prof. Antje Tumat, is currently working on a digital letter edition of selected letters from Henze and his correspondents. At a conversation concert at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold on November 20, 2022, excerpts from his letters were read aloud, with the works the composer discusses in his letters being performed.
