The AStA (General Student Committee) Summer Festival in Paderborn is the oldest and largest student-run festival in Germany: every year since 1998, the event has attracted up to 14,000 music fans to the university campus. The 50^th anniversary year was no exception: once again, the campus was transformed into a unique festival site last June: the four stages hosted sets not only by student bands and musicians from the region, but also illustrious headline acts such as the Broilers, Provinz, Nura, Gestört aber Geil, Amilli, T-Low, 01099 and Kayef. Even for those who hadn’t managed to get a ticket, there was no escaping the event on Summer Festival Day in Paderborn. The festival atmosphere and vibe could already be felt in the entire city centre by lunchtime: as seminars and lectures only took place in the morning, the town was full of crowds of students and other young people warming up for the festival at private parties and barbecues before finally heading off to the Campus together.
