Science and business meet at the Zukunftsmeile (“Future Mile”) Fürstenallee,– with Paderborn University’s SICP – Software Innovation Campus Paderborn, the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Design (IEM), S&N Invent and Weidmüller Interface GmbH. To give participants an opportunity to network and enjoy being creative together, the principal tenants of the research and innovation centre Zukunftsmeile 2 (ZM2) staged the event “Week Z: Future Mile. Together.” from Monday, 15. August to Friday, 19. August. On 16., 17. and 18. August, presentations by experts from industry and the world of sport gave the interested public a glimpse behind the scenes at the ZM2 and talk shop with experts.
At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, 16. August, Fabian Wohlgemuth, Director of Sport at professional football club SC Paderborn 07, spoke in Room A.00.07 about “Team and Transfer – a one-two between football and research”. At 9 a.m. on Wednesday, 17., it was the turn of August Christian Loos, CEO of IT company MaibornWolff in Munich, to speak about work in the digitalisation age in his presentation “Self-determination and cooperation”. The expert speaker at 9 a.m. on Thursday, 18. August in the IoT Xperience Center was Markus Fleuter, Vice-President of technology company GEA.
“Z Week” started on Monday, 15. August with a kick-off event for all employees at the Zukunftsmeile Fürstenallee. Afterwards, there was a chance to be creative: as part of the “ZM.Makeathon”, participants were divided into mixed teams and given until the end of the week to make a short video presenting the ZM2 from their own perspective. The results of the competition were presented from 4 p.m. on Friday, 19. August. The winning team received a material prize and immortalised on the “ZM Plaque” in the foyer of the ZM2. The networking week ended with the “ZM.Summer Festival”, which was a great way for the employees to get together in a relaxed atmosphere to round off the week.
