Paderborn University celebrated its 50^th anniversary and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering marked the half-century with two events in one day. Following the afternoon event “Fantasy machines” at 2 p.m. on 23. September, which was aimed primarily at a younger audience, the Y-Building opened its doors to “young and old” from 5 p.m. until late into the night.

The family event “Fantasy machines – the tech event for children aged 3 – 10”, which featured many hands-on activities at a variety of stations, was aimed mainly at children (and their parents) and invited them to build simple machines, learn about old machines and try out new models.

From 5 p.m. onwards, the professors, expert groups and student initiatives warmly invited everyone to a Mechanical Engineering Night, in which the faculty opened its doors and offered insights into the exciting world of mechanical engineering. As well as information about our degree programmes, there were great hands-on activities for younger and older children (and young-at-heart adults), exciting workshops and insights into current research fields.
