Judith Hermann reads from “Daheim” (At Home)

On Thursday 24. November, Paderborn University invited all interested parties to an author reading on the occasion of the 50th anniversary. At 7.30 p.m., the well-known writer Judith Hermann read from her highly acclaimed novel Daheim. Afterwards, the guests had the opportunity to ask the author questions and engage in conversation with her.

The novel Daheim, which was nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in 2021 and with which Hermann was on the Spiegel bestseller lists for a long time, is about a departure. An old world is being lost and a new one is being created. The author tells the story of a woman who leaves her previous life behind, moves to the coast and becomes a different person in the coastal landscape.

The reading was part of a series of events as part of the Paderborn Guest Lectureship for Writers(founded by Prof. em. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Hartmut Steinecke, since 2005 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Norbert Otto Eke) and the reading series German Literature of the present  with which Paderborn University has been an integral part of urban cultural life for many years.
