Even at a school age, each and every one of us develops ideas in our heads about what university life is like – not least because of the many films we watch. It might come as a surprise then that the Hollywood college film is already a 100-year-old tradition. University life is often portrayed as a wild time of excess, with male characters dominating. We’ve chosen two films for some light entertainment, but that also raise questions: How has the genre of student film changed? Are these films close to real university life? What influence do they have on our own student existence?
