The long evening of student advice

Location: Gebäude I, 4. Etage, Universität Paderborn
Address: Warburger Str. 100, 33098 Paderborn

Study?! But what, and how do I go about it?

As part of the nationwide campaign “The long evening of student advice”, the Zentrale Studienberatung (Central Student Advice Centre, or ZSB) opened its doors in Building I on 23 June 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to inform prospective students about study options, admission requirements and funding possibilities. Potential candidates with Abitur (A- Levels), Fachhochschulreife (Advanced Technical College Certificate) or a vocational qualification were cordially invited. Besides one-to-one counselling, the ZSB also offered info presentations –about the courses available or “Studying with an impairment”, for example – and campus tours.

“After the lifting of the restrictions caused by the pandemic, we can finally offer prospective students an informative face-to-face event again this year,” said a delighted Cinderella Welz from Paderborn University’s ZSB. Academic career advisors from Paderborn Employment Agency were also on hand to answer questions about other university locations and possible gap year activities such as voluntary work or working abroad. Information about student grants (BAföG) and studying with an impairment or a chronic illness was also provided.

Digital student talks

From Monday, 20. June to Wednesday, 22. June, students at Paderborn University also informed potential students online about their degree courses and life on the campus. They answered various questions: what’s the difference between classes at school and at university? What’s the procedure at a lecture? Do I have to do homework? How do I find my way around the campus? “Prospective students could use this opportunity to get first-hand information about the courses they want do and hints on university life in general,” said Welz.
