Science with plenty of insights and lots of fun was on offer on Saturday 17. December at the Science Slam, followed by a guest lecture by Dr. Mark Benecke. The top-class line-up of the Science Slam, moderated by Karsten Strack to mark the anniversary of Paderborn University, offered exciting lectures from the fields of philosophy, biochemistry, psychology and education. Martin Weyrauch, Janina Otto, Wiebcke Schick, Simon Hauser and Matthias Warkus each had ten minutes to present their research area and project to the audience. Ten minutes in which they explained complex topics from pheromones to the trolley problem in a clear and entertaining way. Short, crisp and scientifically correct.

After the slam, Dr. Mark Benecke, the well-known criminal biologist from the media, accepted the Paderborn University’s invitation and gave a guest lecture from one of his specialist areas. At the request of the audience, Dr. Benecke gave exciting insights into the world of the mummies of Palermo and handed out autographs after the event.
